About Acute Sinusitis
Acute sinusitis is a short-term inflammation or infection of the sinuses (air-filled spaces around the nose, cheeks, eyes, and forehead). It often develops after a common cold and usually lasts less than 4 weeks. Most cases are caused by viruses and improve on their own within 7–10 days.
Common symptoms
Stuffy or blocked nose
Thick yellow or green nasal discharge
Facial pain, pressure, or tenderness (especially around the cheeks, eyes, or forehead)
Headache
Reduced sense of smell or taste
Postnasal drip (mucus running down the throat)
Cough, especially at night
Fatigue
Mild fever in some cases
